This is my new drawing of Ruben, I drew him before and give it to his parents..
some of you who have seen the other drawing of Ruben, and my friends on DA of course will know that Ruben passed away in September last year.. so this is a very special drawing for me, and I put all my emotion and my hart and soul in it, and I hope you can see it!! I finished this drawing a while ago, but I have been very busy, and 2 weeks ago I found the time to submit it.. But then I thought, no I will wait till july the 9th to submit it because it would be his birthday today.

So Ruben this is for you!!

tools of trade:

- A4 size paper
- tape
- hb, 2b mechanical pencils
- 6b and 9b pencils
- blending sticks
- kneaded eraser
- reference picture
- 10 hours

I framed this drawing and it's standing in my bedroom, I also showed it to his parents, they loved it!!

I love his smile, so bright and full of life. It is always so tragic when a child's life is short lived. His eyes are amazing as well, you can really see the mischief in them. Great portrait. :+fav:

Thanks :hug: Yes it's just not fair.. today it would be his 9th birthday, but his parents and the familie and good friends makes his birthday a memorial day if I said it right, a day where we all come together to remember him.. it was a good day ;) but we missed him of course

It's gorgeous...he had such a cute smile! and those eyes... but the story...it's terribly sad...I'm so sorry for the family. It's such a shame...
It was very nice of you to draw him (and also you drew his brother,right?) and give it to his parents, and to draw him again.
Your skills are amazing, love the shading on his nose and mouth, you did a truly beautiful job here
